A police team smashed its way into a Colchester flat and arrested four people as part of a drugs crackdown.

The plain clothes officers raided the home in Greenstead, battering their way through the door just after 7.30am today.

It is the latest phase of Colchester police's Operation Tralee, which is being run to tackle class A drugs dealing in the town.

Two men and two women were taken to Colchester police station where they were today being questioned by detectives.

Three were arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs while the fourth was arrested on suspicion of being concerned with the supply of controlled drugs.

After they had been taken from the ground floor flat, where a crowbar and a BB gun were seized, it was searched by officers and a sniffer dog.

The suspects take the tally of Operation Tralee arrests to ten, following three dramatic swoops in Colchester and Clacton.
