Homeowners today applauded plans to tackle parking hotspots in Southend by launching residents'-only permit schemes.
Leigh Broadway and the roads running off it were areas singled out as among the worst spots for parking problems.
Michelle Downs, 32, of Victoria Road, Leigh, said: "It's about time the council got round to looking at this problem as parking is a daily nightmare for everyone round here. I hope they can think of a long-term solution to the problem - perhaps more car parks or a special scheme."
Jamie Williams, 25, also from Victoria Road, said: "Being so close to Leigh Broadway, parking is an absolute nightmare 24 hours a day seven days a week.
"It is just impossible to park in your road and you are not allowed to park on the Broadway for more than an hour, so there is nothing you can do. I look forward to hearing what the council come up with as a solution."
