Film buffs are being invited to learn more about scores of their favourite movies.
Anglia Polytechnic University is holding a day workshop focusing on music for the silver screen and everyone is welcome to go along.
The day will examine the differences between functional film music - where the music interprets and comments on the action - and realistic film music which is written into the scenario as part of the action.
Fascinated music fans will also go on to explore the influences of different studio ways of composing movie scores and will look at music from three generations of composers.
The seminar will take in work from music writers who worked during and after the Second World War and those who have made blockbusters in the last 30 years.
Professor Chris Green, director of APU's regional office, will be leading the event on Saturday, February 8, which kicks off at 10.30am at the college's campus in Kiln Road, Thundersley.
Tickets for the workshop are £10, concessions £5, and can be got by sending a cheque to Anglia Polytechnic University, together with your name, address and telephone number to Lesley Vingoe, APU, Benfleet Campus, The White House, Kiln Road, Thundersley, SS7 1PZ.
