A teenager was taken to hospital after being attacked by a group of schoolgirls in Braintree town centre.
The 16-year-old local girl was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, after the attack, which happened near the fountain in the town's High Street.
A group of between 20 and 30 girls had gathered by the fountain just after 4pm yesterday.
A number of them then attacked the victim, who lost consciousness for a short time.
She was taken to hospital suffering from bruising to her head, a bleeding nose and cuts to her mouth, as well as multiple bruising on her back and legs.
