Surplus school land at the centre of a row over a new police station has been sold for housing.
The deal collapsed at the last minute after school bosses claimed they were being forced to sell off the land at a giveaway price.
Now Tendring Technology College has sold off the unwanted land in Walton Road, Frinton, for thousands more.
The sale has enabled work to start on building of a new music-drama suite and two new science laboratories.
Developers are already on site and the work is expected to be completed by the new school year, in September.
Meanwhile, the Essex Police Authority is now searching for a fresh site for a new police station in the Frinton and Walton district.
The Police Authority had offered £250,000.
