Chelmsford made the long trek to Lowestoft to face the side they had lost to earlier in the season.

Fully aware of Lowestoft's strengths, they knew what had to be done to ensure the victory.

Chelmsford made their usual positive start but the question remained as to whether or not they would maintain this throughout the game.

The first half of the match turned out to be somewhat of a non event and rather a boring affair with much of the ball being kept in the forwards and mistakes leading to the referee's whistle halting the action.

The first points of the match fell Chelmsford's way when a well struck penalty by Rob Foster after 8 minutes found its way safely over the cross bar.

Unfortunately these proved to be Chelmsford's only points of the half.

Lowestoft seized the opportunity to get the afternoon's first try after 28 minutes when awarded a penalty.

This was neatly passed out to the centre who ran straight through the Chelmsford defence to score.

With a further successful penalty kick on the 40 minutes, Lowestoft went into the second half with a 5-point advantage.

With Lowestoft unable to further their tally despite an early attempt at a penalty kick, Chelmsford came into their own.

Chelmsford's first try came form a lovely chip from Rob Foster which fell just right for James Howe to catch and to dive over for the try.

Foster made the conversion and this took Chelmsford into the lead again further adding to this with a penalty kick.

The match was finally sealed when, in the dying minutes, Foster seized his own opportunity to run in the last try of the afternoon leaving the score at a very pleasing 18-8 in Chelmsford's favour.
