Here's one dentist who has got his teeth into helping patients conquer their fear of sitting in the dreaded surgery chair.

Now they can watch as Dr Bhavin Bhatt fills in the gaps - thanks to a tele-video machine which displays his every move.

His Oakland Dental Care centre in Reeves Way, South Woodham Ferrers, is fitted with the latest cutting edge technology.

And on Saturday it was the dentist opening wide for the patients when he threw open the doors of the surgery to anyone interested in seeing the hi-tech gear.

Dr Bhatt took over the practice in November last year, and it has now been refurbished into a modern air-conditioned digital practice in a £100,000 overhaul.

It is one of the few practices in the south east to have tele-video examination and digital X-rays, which reduces radiation exposure by up to 75 per cent.

Dr Bhatt has also introduced a Nervous Patient Programme in an attempt to tackle people's fears.
