The phrase a game of two halves never had a truer meaning than in this Powergen London Division One game at Warners Park.

Table-topping hosts Southend seemed quite unable to create scoring chances in the first-half. London Nigerians built on the penalty they scored in the first minute by following up with a 20th-minute converted try.

This put the visitors 13-0 ahead, but Southend's pack drove the opposition back to their line for Chris Dyton to score a try for a half-time score of 13-5.

Southend looked a different side in the second-half and took the game to their opponents. Jamie Banks broke through the defence to score and Ali Chambers converted to reduce the arrears to just one point.

Then the seasiders went in front when Stuart Singleton outpaced the opposition to score, Chambers again potting the conversion points.

Chambers then scored a final spectacular try following his own kick through to lift Southend to a final score of 24.
