A man has admitted drink-driving even though he was under the limit when tested.
Dean Drury was tested for alcohol in his blood after driving along the B1508 Colchester Road, near Wormingford.
The test found he had 71mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood below the legal limit which is 80mgs.
However, Colchester Court heard because the test was done three hours after he had been arrested, it was determined he would have had 160mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood at the time he was driving.
Drury, 22, of Sycamore Road, Colchester, admitted in court to drink-driving.
The court ordered Drury to pay a £100 fine for drink-driving and a further £80 for driving without insurance. He was banned from driving for 12 months.
