Basildon police are after some special people to help keep the community safe.
To achieve this task there will be an open evening on Wednesday on the work of the Special Constabulary in an effort to recruit new officers.
Basildon currently has 26 Special officers spread across the division and hopes to recruit more.
Divisional Officer Scott McCabe, who heads the Basildon team of Specials, said: "The officers at Basildon perform all types of duties including routine patrol, footpatrols and special events.
"Specials are required to perform a minimum of four hours a week and Essex Police provides volunteers with all the skills and equipment necessary to perform the role."
If you want to serve your community and have a minimum of four hours spare time a week then go along to the open evening which starts at 8pm at Basildon police station in Great Oaks, Basildon to find out more or contact the Specials recruitment helpline on 01245 452254.
