A teenager was viciously beaten by robbers in Colchester after they stole £100 from him
The 18-year-old was playing football with friends at Hillyfields, behind Colchester Institute, when they were approached by three men.
One of them asked if the boys could change some money for them and the victim got out his cash, only to have £100 snatched.
When he tried to get it back a fight started and he was kicked and punched by the three robbers.
Det Sgt Roger Napier, of Colchester CID, said the attack left the teenager with "nasty head injuries" and he had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
"It shook him up considerably and his face is a mess, as you'd expect from being beaten up by three men."
All three men were white with thick builds. The first was 6ft tall, in his mid 20s with fairly short, mousy brown hair and a large hooked nose. He was wearing a black baggy T-shirt and dark jeans.
The second man was also in his mid 20s, about 5ft 9in tall with a thickset build, a chubby face and thick black curly hair and black stubble. He was wearing a cream jumper, dark combat trousers and black boots.
And the third man was described as being about 5ft 9in tall. Anyone with information should call Colchester police on 01206 762212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
