A village nursing home is set to become a residence for adults with learning difficulties.
Work is due to start on changing The Yew Trees, in The Street, Kirby, into the home catering for nine adults in the next few weeks.
The property was bought by MILD Professional Homes, a company based in Rayleigh, which specialises in providing care to vulnerable members of society who need additional care and support.
It was previously run as a residential home for eight years by Vera and Peter Francis but they were forced to sell up because of underfunding and pressures of extra Government regulations.
Jacquie Flatts, director of the company which bought the home, said they were looking to employ qualified nurses and support workers.
She said: "Our people are fairly vulnerable. We have people with Down's Syndrome for example and staff are looking after them out in the local community and providing all-round care."
