Harwich's Amateur Boxing Club have cause for celebration this week. The Amateur Boxing Association selectors have singled out one of the club's bright prospects for funding.
England boxer Tommy Jacobs will miss this weekend's showcase at the Park Pavillion, off Main Road, in Harwich as he is joining up with the national side for training at Crystal Palace.

However, Jacobs, 15, who is the current National Boy's Champion and double schoolboy champion, has been selected for the ABA's world class programme and will be granted grade A funding in his pursuit for further progression in amateur boxing.
Fighters from Lowestoft, London, Colchester, Sudbury, Newmarket and Kent will descend on Harwich this weekend, with 15 contests booked in.
Representatives from Harwich ABC will compete in eight of the contests and they will all look to put in good performances in front of their home crowd.
Top-of-the-bill will be 16-year-old Marcus Poston's bout against Darren Loveday from Newham, London.
Poston, who recently lost in the final of the British Boys Championships in Manchester to Amir Khan, was defeated by Loveday two years ago on home-turf and will be seeking revenge come Saturday night.
Harwich coach Martin Webb is also giving debuts to 12-year-old James McKinnon, Lewis Brundel, 11, and Phil Lloyd,15.
The doors open at 8pm and tickets are still available priced £7.
