Leisure group Holmes Place is set to be given the green light by Rochford District Council to refurbish Clements Hall leisure centre in Hawkwell.
The firm took over the running of the council's leisure facilities last year.
It is currently working to improve the facilities at Rayleigh's Mill Hall and the Clements Hall proposals are the next step forward.
Members of the planning committee will be recommended on Thursday, January 23, to approve plans for a new entrance area, bar, operational rooms and sun canopies. Also included is a redesign of the car park and access, and an external seating area.
In a report to the committee, head of planning Shaun Scrutton said the most significant of the external works was a new entrance area with a flat-roofed, glazed frontage and external canopy.
