The first splash in a new swimming pool for Braintree has moved a step closer after plans were given the green light.
Outline plans for a swimming complex at Millennium Way, near the Freeport shopping village, got the go-ahead from members of a planning committee last night
The application by Freeport Leisure is for a 2.8 hectare site.
It was passed, so long as Freeport Leisure made agreements with the council.
One agreement, about parking, was amended.
Originally, it was for a car parking scheme for about 128 spaces to be used for commuter rail parking, Monday to Friday.
The need for commuter parking was taken out, leaving just an arrangement to offer parking for the complex.
The plans reveal a new road called Century Way would link the complex to Millennium Way.
