Links between Chelmsford and its namesake town in Massachusetts have won official backing.
Chelmsford Borough Council's chief executive, Martin Easteal was due to speak to councillors on the issue today.
He told the Essex Chronicle: "We welcome increased international contact. We have extended our town twinning from Germany to France in the last four years and we are also working in Kosovo, trying to help the new local authorities to get on their feet.
"In principle links with Chelmsford Mass is certainly something well worth considering providing there is a reasonable degree of local support. "
