A pioneering project to boost mental health services has been launched in Colchester.
The new initiative at the Lakes, Colchester's acute in-patient psychiatric unit, will help modernise services for people with severe mental health problems who need care in hospital.
The project was launched by Colchester mayor Nigel Chapman, who welcomed visitors and praised the work done by staff at the unit.
The Lakes is one of just four similar units in England selected by the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health to take part in the prestigious national pilot called "the search for acute solutions".
The study aims to develop ground-breaking approaches to mental health care in Colchester and then to share the good practice across the country
