Jubilant residents at High Woods and St John's in Colchester have won their fight to keep a mobile mast away from homes and schools.
It was the second round in their battle, which included 1,300 letters of objection, to stop a ten-metre mock telegraph pole mast from being placed next to the Esso garage in Ipswich Road.
Members of High Woods Residents' Association, with support from people living in St John's, had led residents to victory in defeating a similar application for a 12.5m mast some months before.
Now the second application in six months by Hutchison 3G has been turned down by officers of Colchester Council under delegated powers
