A man was last night shot in the shoulder following a dispute with two other men in the Accident and Emergency unit of Basildon General Hospital.
The dispute between the three men is believed to be about the dropping of a seven month old baby. The argument continued outside the hospital, two men got into a car and a shot was fired.
The victim - a 31 year old man from Billericay - has now been discharged from hospital following the removal of shotgun pellets from the shoulder.
A seven month old boy was kept in hospital for observation.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the scene.
