Police believe two burglars wearing bobble hats are responsible for the theft of hundreds of pounds worth of cigarettes.
The duo were seen leaving the Co-op store in London Road, Benfleet, with their haul, just after midnight yesterday.
Sgt Kevin Diable-White said: "The only description we have of the two thieves is they were both wearing bobble hats.
"The more information we can get on their appearance the better. There is a chance more people witnessed what happened and we would urge them to come forward and help us out."
Around £1,000 in criminal damage was done to the store and cigarettes worth £550, were stolen.
Police will study CCTV footage to see if it gives away any more clues to the burglars' identities.
If you think you know the raiders or saw what happened, call Benfleet police immediately on 01268 756221 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
