A Dutchman has been jailed for 18 years after he was caught with more than £1 million worth of ecstasy at Harwich.
Haik Seth-Paul, 28, told customs he did not know the drugs were in the boot of his car and denied a charge of smuggling.
But a jury at Chelmsford Crown Court convicted him on the charge following a trial.
The court heard a total of 168,000 tablets, worth £1.5 million, were found in a false compartment in the boot of a car Seth-Paul arrived in on September 1 last year.
Asked about the drugs, Seth-Paul, of Amsterdam, said he knew nothing about them.
