A boy needed hospital treatment after his fingers were trapped in a door at school.
The 11-year-old pupil at Bishops Park College, Clacton, was taken by Essex Air Ambulance to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford on Friday after he trapped his fingers in a door just after 9am.
Surgeons operated on two of the fingers on his right hand to repair the damage. He was released after staying in overnight.
Deputy head Jeremy Rowe praised the staff at the new school for the way they handled the situation.
He said: "It was an accident but we were pleased that when it happened we were able to deal with it swiftly and professionally and trained first aiders were there immediately."
He said they would have a full inquiry at school into how the accident happened.
