Basildon Council has promised to investigate the case of a woman with a young baby who cannot go in to her kitchen because of mice.
Lisa Woni, of Merrylands, Laindon, says she is concerned about the health risks, especially because she has an 18-month old child, and will not clear away the vermin, because she believes there is a danger.

Mrs Woni called Basildon Council for them to deal with the problem, but they couldn't promise clearing the house of the mice and traps before the end of the week.
Mrs Woni said: "I have had to keep out of the kitchen, I can't take the risk. I have even kept the dog out of the kitchen. She is only a puppy and if she ate the dead mice it might harm her. She could die.
"I have had the problem for about two weeks, but I didn't see anything, but since I have put traps down I have caught some."
"I have called the council, but they only said there are loads of people with mice problems, but that doesn't help me, that is no excuse."
A spokesman for Basildon Council: "The council does undertake to respond to any reports of mouse problems on domestic premises within five working days.
"The occupiers of this house did contact our environmental health department and at that time we told them we would visit them and this still stands."
