Jubilant council number crunchers were today praised for their outstanding achievements.
Lead member for resources, councillor Jackie Reilly, today congratulated the council's accountants for their efforts during a very busy new year period.
Their hard work was rewarded when an external auditor who had been auditing Castle Point's finances praised the team for working to a very high standard.
Mrs Reilly said: "The auditors have made very positive comments about the standard of completion of the annual statement of accounts and I am pleased that they now refer to Castle Point as a good practice site.
"The accounts section has worked to a very high standard - lots of authorities don't do as well."
The commendation came while a best value report was underway which meant it was one of the busiest periods the council has ever faced.
