Monday rubbish collections are set to be scrapped in Colchester.
Waste bosses at Colchester Council plan to introduce a four-day week.
The idea is to fit collections normally spread over five days into just four.
It will mean the problem of bank holiday collections will be ended - except for Good Friday and Christmas.
Under the plans, Mondays will be spent maintaining and servicing collection vehicles and the rest of the week would be spent collecting rubbish.
Terry Sutton, Colchester Council's environment and waste portfolio holder, said: "We have always had people telling us of their frustration when their rubbish is not collected on bank holidays.
"If we don't collect on Mondays, the problem largely disappears. It is not yet entirely agreed as we are still speaking with staff about it."
It is part of a number of changes in waste collection.
The council is set to order 13 new multi-collection vehicles, which have three different compartments for different types of waste.
