Martijn Reuser has vowed to pay back fans for their 'overwhelming' support during his recent injury lay-off.
The Ipswich Town midfielder was given a rousing reception after making his long-awaited comeback during Saturday's FA Cup clash against Morecambe.
And the Dutchman, who emerged from the bench, almost made an immediate impact as he went close with an acrobatic long-range volley.
He told the Evening Gazette: "It would have been great to score. I hit the ball so cleanly and that goes to show I'm on my way back in terms of confidence.
"I got a fantastic reception from the fans and that's why I made a point of going round to applaud all sections of the crowd after the final whistle.
"It was the very least I could do to show my gratitude.
"The last few months have been tough for me and they've helped me pull through with their continued support.
"Now I'm fit again, I want more than anything to pay them back and give them plenty to cheer about."
