Hard work and outstanding achievements by people who live in the Rochford district are being recognised by the council through an awards scheme.
Nominations are being sought before January 31 for the Citizen of the Year Award which aims to honour those who may not normally be recognised for their efforts.
A judging panel will consider all nominations and winners in three categories will be selected, with an overall winner from among them.
Categories are:
Children of Courage (under 16) - young people who have triumphed over personal challenges and/or disadvantages or who have helped others
Charitable support (all age groups) - exceptional support for local, national or international charities whether by fundraising or practical assistance
Community spirit ( all age groups) - people who make outstanding contributions to their community.
Anyone who wishes to make a nomination should contact Elaine Mynott in the chairman's office for an information pack.
