Police today praised motorists for acting sensibly as roads froze over following yesterday's blizzards.
A number of roads around south Essex, including the A13 at Bread and Cheese Hill, were forced to close, but there were no reports of any serious incidents.
Officers from Southend, Basildon and Rayleigh all pointed out they had been called to a small number of incidents.
By early evening, both Bread and Cheese Hill, in Benfleet, and B1014 Essex Way, in Benfleet, had been reopened by police officers.
Two roads in Rayleigh, Hambro Hill and Downhall Road, had also been reopened
A Basildon police spokesman said: "We have not had to attend any accidents, so it seems drivers have heeded the warnings and driven quite sensibly."
