Motorists left stranded on a treacherous stretch of road found their very own knight in shining armour to come to their rescue.
Drivers were left high and dry when a combination of ice, snow and traffic congestion meant they got stuck on Essex Way, Benfleet - which was later closed.

Cars were forced to stop on the steep road and the icy conditions prevented them from moving on.
However, help was at hand in the form of heroic builder Mark Scarf, 44, of Daws Heath Road, Thundersley, and his Mitsubishi four-wheel-drive pick-up truck.
He was there for two hours and managed to get about 12 people out.
He said: "Once they stopped, it was a hell of a job getting going again.
"I did get bought a couple pints out of it though!"
