Major plans to develop a Clacton town centre site for a new pub and restaurant have been put on ice for the next year.
Woking-based SFI Group - which operates the Litten Tree - has a lease on the former amusement arcade in Pier Avenue.
The company was granted a public entertainments licence for the property last March and it had been hoped to open in time for last summer.
But Mike Ashton, brand operations manager for the SFI group, said the £800,000 project has now been put on hold.
"The situation is that we are not in a position to be able to develop the site in Clacton at the moment and I cannot say when we will be," he said.
