Basildon's Alan Busby went home £100 richer after claiming first place at Sunday's Ridley Angling products sponsored Gloucester Park Open.
Alan, whose 18lb 2oz haul consisted entirely of roach, fished the incoming canal using pole tactics and caster baits to take fish from the first minutes of the match.
Careful feeding kept his fish interested, and as the water warmed up during the day he began to take fish at a faster rate. By the end of the match Alan was taking a fish every put in.
Second place and £60 went to visiting angler Alan Milsom with 13lb 8oz.
Once again Alan's cracking catch consisted entirely of quality roach. Alan fished the cockle bank, and like the winner used caster baits presented on pole tactics.
Third place went to Dave Hemmings, who collected £40 with his 11lb 14oz catch.
Although Dave had specifically targeted roach he included a tremendous 2lb 9oz eel in his otherwise all-roach haul.
Dave fished the cockle bank, using a variety of baits on pole gear.
