Southend Volunteer Bureau is hoping local people will make a new year's resolution to help others less fortunate than themselves.
The bureau can offer a whole range of opportunities to choose from, including advice work, befriending, childcare, fundraising, driving, office work, committee work, literacy and numeracy and lots more.
Manager Rachelle Rubin said: "Where appropriate, training and expenses are provided and will not affect any benefits someone is receiving."
More information can be obtained by calling the bureau on 01702 356000 or visiting the SAVS centre in Alexandra Street, Southend.
