Harold MP Angela Watkinson is calling on Post Office bosses to reveal details of any plans they may have to close sub-post offices in the area.
Her concern comes after plans to phase out 3,000 urban branches across the country - around a third of the existing network - were announced.
This sparked fears that sub-post offices in Harold Wood, Harold Hill, Cranham, and Upminster could be at risk of shutting.
Mrs Watkinson said: "Within the Upminster constituency we have many areas where elderly people rely on the local post office to pay them their pension.
"People receiving benefits of different types also rely on the post office network to obtain the money they need for daily living.
"My concern is that when you look on a map in a high-rise office block at Post Office headquarters the branches in this constituency look close together.
"But in reality travelling between them is extremely difficult when youre forced to either walk or use public transport."
