A decision to close down a post office provoked concern today from councillors.
Bosses at Post Office Limited, which controls the franchise, want to shut its branch in Maurice Road, Canvey.

The move came after postmistress Kathleen Hearn announced she is to retire in March.
The company said it would not replace her as there is too much competition for too little business in the area.
The plan was condemned by Castle Point councillors, who feel a vital lifeline would be cut off.
Canvey North councillor Dennis Williams called for Post Office Limited to rethink its decision and said he would be willing to attend talks on the issue.
Mr Williams said: "I am disappointed. It seems to be a trend with the Post Office just to make cutback after cutback.
"If the Maurice Road branch is closed, it will make life very difficult for the many people who use it, particularly the elderly or parents with young children who would be forced to travel further away."
George Hooper, area head for Post Office Limited, said: "Closure proposals are not made without considerable research and discussion."
He invited people to write to him with their views before Monday, February 3, at National Consultation Team, PO Box 641, St Albans, AL1 5XN.
