Essex player Nasser Hussein had reason to smile today when his England team completed a rare win over Australia to prevent an Ashes whitewash.
Andrew Caddick used the rapidly deteriorating surface at the Sydney Cricket Ground to finish with figures of seven for 94.
The day started with England in the driving-seat but any fightback from Australia never came.
Andy Bichel, unable to add to his overnight score of 49, fell lbw to the bowling of Caddick.
Steve Waugh lasted only 15 minutes before Caddick bowled him off his bat and Damien Martyn fell to off-spinner Richard Dawson.
Steve Harmison bowled Martin Love off his pads with a ball that kept viciously low.
The last wicket of the morning came when Adam Gilchrist, who had reached 37 off only 27 balls, gloved a Caddick delivery to second slip.
Brett Lee did well after lunch to reach 46.
But Caddick finally had him caught off the gloves and then bowled Stuart MacGill in the same over.
