Motorists have been warned not to ignore road closures after firefighters had to help shift cars stuck in floods.
Firefighter Steve Miller, of Clacton Fire Station, said drivers were flouting safety advice and trying to pass through water-logged roads which had been shut.
A Clacton fire crew had to push a man in his 70s to safety after his Renault became stranded in floods on the closed Holland marshes at 1.30pm on Friday.
Firefighter Miller said: "There are still people who are trying to force their way through, but if you can't gauge the depth of the water then it is best to stay out."
The Holland marshes were particularly affected by heavy rainfall and blocked in several places, causing it to be closed.
