Brothers George and Thomas Bushnell, 13 and 16, fell victim within days of each other to thieves on trains.
British Transport Police warned people they should use "common sense" when using the c2c line.
In separate thefts, gangs of older youths took the brothers' baseball caps and George's mobile telephone.
The crimes happened on trains between Southend and Grays, and Chafford Hundred and Grays.
