Tresor Kandol has only been at Purfleet a matter of weeks but is already something of a treasure.

Six goals from three starts suggests he may prove another valuable attacking addition after his move from struggling Chesham evoked memories of last year's swoop for Cliff Akurang from the same club.

Kandol and Purfleet now face Bedford -- and they're just the type of opposition that lately have caused Colin McBride's side some problems.

Fleet will be without ball-winning midfielder Jamie Southon because of a one-match suspension and with no similar type of player available are forced to rejig.

They may opt for the more creative Terry Bowes, although could move defender Mark Goodfellow into a midfield role if Craig Edwards fails a fitness test.

Grays must improve their recent inconsistent form against struggling Enfield.

The north London visitors are in a fight against relegation, yet Blues need to be careful because they're only five points clear of the drop.

After coming from two goals down against Hitchin to earn a draw and then win the Boxing Day Thurrock derby, one might have expected another decent result at Basingstoke.

But not for a first time this season Grays faded after a bright start to end 2002 with one success from nine games.

There is, though, little doubt that the signing of Martin Carthy and Roy Essandoh is good business and the former has already scored in his first two games for the club. Defensively, though, Grays are in need of a clean-sheet or two, having not done so for ten games.
