A new initiative aimed at providing support for teachers and parents in Clacton will be almost full when it opens next week.
An open day staged at Nanna's Nursery - which is in the grounds of Colbayns High School - proved a huge success with 60 people turning up in just two hours.
Programme director Keely Hogben said she was delighted at the response.
"Everyone who turned up was full of praise for the facilities we are providing at the site and there were no negative comments," she said.
"We signed up some new children and confirmed those we already had, which means we will have 22 each day of the week."
Mrs Hogben said the capacity was 30 so there was still room for a few more
"We had anticipated starting off with 18 each day so we have already achieved more than that, which is excellent," she added.
The aim of the nursery is to provide places for teachers who are having difficulty finding childcare facilities in the town, help recruit new teachers and retain those wanting to start a family.
However, Nanna's is also open to youngsters who are not connected with teaching in any way.
