Billericay Town boss Gary Calder admits that Basildon Council's vote in favour of plans to build a new 8,000 capacity stadium at Basildon's Gloucester Park has given the club a major lift prior to tomorrow's big match at leaders Aldershot.
He said: "It's something our chairman Rod Moore has worked so hard for so to see the council's committee give the plans the thumbs up in principle is obviously a big boost."
Mr Moore himself said that one of the most satisfying aspects of Wednesday's meeting which gave approval was the fact that he at last seemed to be getting through to some opponents why they and developers Stadia Management were looking to build a stadium for such a big capacity -- when current average home attendances currently only number around the 600-700 mark.
Billericay currently stand nine points behind top dogs Shots and tomorrow are boosted by the return of Roy Essandoh and Russell Penn, both of whom have served three-match bans.
After the FA Cup demise, Calder transfer-listed Dave McDonald, Paul Fewings and Richard Graham, but now admits that there may be a change of heart.
