Canvey midfield star John Kennedy is facing an Italian job after picking up a major soccer honour.
Kennedy, one of the Islanders' most consistent stars over the past two years, has been named in the England semi-professional squad to visit Italy later this month.
The former Ipswich Town youth star has his big date on the 20th and manager Jeff King admitted: "It's a big honour for John and the club.
"We're all very pleased for him. He'll miss our Bryco Cup visit to Hayes, but everyone at Park Lane wishes him all the best for what is definitely a well-deserved selection."
King's more immediate problem is how to cope without Kennedy, and a number of other first team squad men, for tomorrow's home Ryman League Premier game with Maidenhead United.
Kennedy sits out on a one-match ban after being sent off for receiving two cautions in the FA Cup defeat at Slough a fortnight ago.
Defender Ben Chenery is still recovering from illness, while another back four man, Kevin Dobinson, is out with hamstring trouble.
