A plan to build a two-storey health club on the former bus depot site off Hogg Lane, Grays, has been refused and slammed as an "eyesore".
Bannatynes Fitness -- which runs a club on the Chafford Hundred estate -- was seeking permission to create a swimming pool, gym and two aerobic suites on the northern part of the Morrisons site in the town centre.
But members of Thurrock Council's development control committee unanimously threw out the proposal.
Grays councillor Pearl Betts added: "I feel this would be nothing but an eyesore."
