A south Essex council was today told to pay £1,250 compensation to two residents whose complaints about burning waste were not handled properly.
The Local Government Ombudsman Mr Jerry White has criticised Thurrock Council's planning and environmental health departments after investigating two complaints from residents about the council's failure to halt smoke nuisance from a farm.
