Murder squad detectives were today sifting CCTV footage in an attempt to solve the mystery surrounding the killing of Barry Redsull.
Officers revealed there is still no definite motive for the attack on the supermarket manager outside his home on the Woodgrange estate, in Southend, early on Friday morning.
A spokeswoman for Essex Police said: "Obviously, when investigating a murder there are numerous lines of inquiry.
"At this stage, though, it still appears there was no definite motive."
Mr Redsull, 27, who was manager at Somerfield, in Spa Road, Hockley, and lived with his mother in Outing Close, Southend, was attacked at around 12.30am.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw Mr Redsull on his way home from work that night.
