A Walton couple who lost their baby to cot death have raised over £1,000 to help future research.
David, 33, and Barbara Brookes, 21, of Saville Street, decided to raise funds for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) after their three-month-old daughter died in August.
With the help of the Roaring Donkey in Holland Road, Clacton, Highlands Caravan Park in Thorpe Road, Great Clacton, and the Royal Albion on Walton seafront, they have held karaoke evenings with their own equipment.
With each singer making donations when they performed and money gained through a prize raffle and auction, they have gathered £1,125 for the FSID, who also work to raise awareness.
Mr Brookes said: "I feel that no parent should have to go through this and there's not enough awareness.
"Some people don't even seem to want to know about it. We were just very lucky to have the support of friends and family."
