The Stars and Stripes will be flown again at Boreham Airfield for this year's Remembrance Day memorial.
During the Second World War, the airfield was a USAF base used by many American aircrew who flew from there never to return.
On Remembrance Sunday, after many years of anonymity, a plaque bearing the names of the aircrew killed while serving at Boreham will finally be unveiled.
Lt Col Roderick Zastrow of the USAF will attend the ceremony at 3pm on November 10, accompanied by a representative of each of the fighter squadrons based at Lakenheath.
The event organisers have managed to locate one of the original Stars and Stripes from the airfield, which will be used in the unveiling ceremony.
