Youngsters in Little Clacton should have their new BMX track by Christmas.
Plans for the facility have been drawn up and it is hoped to give contractors the go-ahead to construct the site in the next few weeks.
The track will be built at Plough Corner. It has been designed to the youngsters' own specifications.
The parish council had originally set aside about £6,000 for the project expecting it to include various structures.
But the teenagers have asked that it should just be moulded out of earth and will now only cost about £500.
Linda Austin, vice-chairman, said: "It is what they wanted and it will be a lot cheaper to build than we thought. It just involves a JCB to move the earth around."
