A £300,000 scheme to provide a dedicated community transport service in Harwich is set to hit the road.
Two 15-seat minibuses and a van have been bought and it is hoped to get residents using them within the next few months.
The project has come about thanks to a £294,000 grant from the Government's Rural Bus Challenge fund and the Market Towns' Initiative, which will invest £30,000 over the next two years.
It is hoped the scheme will be a permanent fixture and enable groups to get about more in their community.
Les Double, chairman of Harwich Connexions, which runs the Market Towns' scheme said: "We have now purchased two minibuses and an equipment van and they will be making their way to Dovercourt in the near future and we are hoping to put in interim arrangements to start running them."
