Murder investigators are continuing appeals for witnesses to the "vicious" stabbing of store manager Barry Redsull.
Police are still trying to find a motive for the killing and hope to find the knife used in the attack on the Woodgrange Drive estate, Southend.
The 27-year-old victim was stabbed in the back outside his home on Outing Close in the early hours of Friday morning.
The store manager of Somerfields, in Spa Road, Hockley, was taken to Southend Hospital but died shortly afterwards.
He left work at 11.40pm, caught a train to Southend Victoria and is thought to have arrived home at 12.30pm.
Police described Mr Redsull as having an impeccable character, a quiet man who still lived with his mother.
A spokesman said: "It was a vicious attack and he suffered multiple stab wounds.
"Officers are carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area of the Woodgrange Drive estate.
"We still very much want to hear from witnesses who may have seen Barry on his way home and particularly in the area close to his home."
