Emmanuel Church pulled off their third charity soccer success when they won a competition at Thorpe Bay High School.
The seven-a-side event was organised by Russell King, of Westcliff Baptist, to raise cash for the Prodigal Son Ministries to buy "Lion Graphic Bibles" -- bibles in comic form for distributuion in prisons for inmates with limited reading ability.
Games were of 20 minutes duration and pitches were donated free of charge by Thorpe Bay High. Al Morrell and Jon Harbidge scored the goals in a 2-1 win over Leigh Road Baptist.
Against the first team of St George's, the scorers were the same in a 2-0 win.
The third game was against Emmanuel's biggest rivals at the moment --Westcliff Baptist. It was a very hard end-to-end game which ended 0-0, despite Emmanuel having the best chances.
The final game was against St George's 2nd team and was won 4-0 with goals from Jon Gurel, Dean Wright (2) and Morrell.
